Here we are two days into the new year and some of us have already given up on goals we set. We’ve realized that the new year did not automatically garner a magical feeling of excitement that made us jump out of bed with anticipation. We’ve realized that intention setting and goal planning means nothing without a true sense of self-awareness. We’ve realized that really do have to do the work that it takes to be successful. The good thing in this all is that already…we’ve realized.
Here is the thing, this year can be the year that everything changes for you for the better but you have to do this…you must go back to the basics.
What are the basics? Let me share them with you
You have to have an end-game in mind.
So many people launch new projects or initiatives or start a new lifestyle without having a clear end in mind. They what they think their expected end should be but they don’t have a clear plan or strategy to execute to make the thing happen. If you desire for this year to truly be different, you have to know what you want to get out of your efforts this year. When you know what you want and what you are working towards, you’ll know what you need to do to make it happen.
You have to take intentional action.
Don’t fill up your daily schedule with things to do just to say you have things to do. Put a bit of effort into your planning. Do the things that make sense to your soul and that add to your bottom-line. Your bottom-line doesn’t just have to be a monetary thing, it can also be the standard by which you live your life. If your goal is to be more fulfilled, do the things that bring you peace and happiness. If your bottom-line is to make money every day, do the things that position you to make money every day. All other things can wait.
You have to discover and plug in the holes.
I am a lover of the basics. I think. I plan. I work. I tweak. I try again. Period.
One of the basics of life and especially business is to get better. And the only way to get better is to measure your efforts and fix what needs to be adjusted. I rarely change my end-game, I always change the method I follow to make it to the end.
In the hustle and bustle of life, it’s easy to just “do” and then think things out later. While momentum is key and is necessary to make things happen, save yourself some time and do things the right way the first time. Use a daily planner, track your productivity, and look for ways to do what you do better. To get to your next level, you have to find what works and what does not work and do the things that stop you from wasting time and energy.
You must get comfortable being uncomfortable.
Comfortability is the thief of success and progress. When you comfortable, growth become a fear. Change becomes a burden. If you want to see a win this year, allow yourself to exit your comfort zone.
Go to a new networking event. Join a new business association. Hire a coach. Do something different to get new and better results. Your future self will thank you for it.
